Date Sold 5/29/2016 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 1 bound volume of film scripts for Bette Davis movies. Note that these scripts are the superimposed versions of A Stolen Life, Deception, Winter Meeting, June Bride, and Beyond the Forest. What does "superimposed" mean? It was done in Europe for use in Portugal and Spain, and someone added a Portuguese or Spanish translation of every line to each script (one language per script), underneath the line in English (so the entire English script is present). This was surely done when the movies were dubbed into Portuguese or Spanish. The voice actors would simply read the lines and their voices would be added to the dubbed version. Bette Davis was a legendary actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was Warner Bros. leading female star throughout the late 1930s, and she continued as a major star throughout the 1940s, and she had one of her greatest triumphs, All About Eve, in 1950. She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movie roles include: Jezebel, Now Voyager, Of Human Bondage, and too many others to list! Note that the item in this lot is from the 1940s.
