Date Sold 4/10/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Held by the Law, the 1927 Edward Laemmle silent romantic crime murder mystery melodrama ("From the original story by Bayard Veiller"; about a couple at their engagement party, and a cousin shoots the groom's father, to stop him from exposing him as a thief, but the bride's father is mistakenly arrested for the crime, and the couple breaks up over it, but the groom helps his ex-fiancee find the true murderer, and they are reconciled) starring Marguerite De La Motte, Johnnie Walker, Ralph Lewis, Robert Ober, and Fred Kelsey. Note that director Ernst Laemmle was Carl Laemmle Sr.'s nephew, and one of many of this relatives that he "brought over" from Germany. Ernst directed many westerns, but apparently he became homesick, because he returned to Germany and directed a few movies for Universal there, but then he retired from the movies in 1930, and passed away in Hollywood in 1950. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good to fine. The glass slide itself is in nice condition and the cardboard holder has some minor smudges. Learn More about condition grades
