An Original Vintage Unfolded Double-Bill Special Proof Color Key Movie Poster (measures 14" x 19 3/4") (Learn More) The circa 1970s double-bill release of the unreleased movies, The Lawbreakers, and The Long Arm ("DINO DE LAURENTIIS has acquired the rights to new material about the best known and least understood event in Naval history. He announces two separate but related films which together tell the full story of His Majesty's armed vessel Bounty: 'The Lawbreakers' and 'The Long Arm'"; "Both screeplays are by Robert Bolt."; "They will be directed by David Lean."; "Produced by Phil Kellogg and photographed in Polynesia."). David Lean's return to film-making, following what he felt was a hostile critical reception to "Ryan's Daughter", took a long time. When he finally did go back to work, it was on a project that would retell the infamous Bounty mutiny. The movie he wanted to create was a two-part epic that would be shown on alternate nights. Night one would be the story of the actual mutiny and night two would chronicle the aftermath. Obviously, this was an expensive proposition and the thought of a 6 to 7 hour film spread over two nights sunk the project. Later, Robert Bolt's script written for Lawbreakers and Long Arm, was edited down to feature length and was filmed in 1984 as The Bounty starring Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson.
