An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Devil's Daughter, the 1939 Arthur H. Leonard black African American Jamaica island family relationship inheritance jungle voodoo comedy melodrama ("Sister against sister in a burning drama of love and hate in the tropics!"; "See the Sensational Blood Dance!"; about a woman in Harlem in New York City who inherits a plantation in Jamaica, and it had been run by her half-sister, but when she gets there, her half-sister has vanished, but actually she is still there, and she uses all sorts of voodoo tricks to try to scare her half-sister into going back to New York, so that she will get the plantation) starring Nina Mae McKinney, Hamtree Harrington, Ida James, Jack Carter, Emmett 'Babe' Wallace, Willa Mae Lane, Francine Larrimore, and "an all-star colored cast". Note that most of the all-black movies of the late 1930s and early 1940s were later re-released by Toddy Pictures, but this one was not, and first release material from it is incredibly rare!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1939 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned one-sheet and a lobby card from this movie until we received this second one-sheet!

Condition: good to very good. There is paper loss in the middle of the right blank border, but only blank paper is affected. There is small paper loss at the bottom crossfold, but it is solely in the solid red area. There is a pair of staple holes in the lower left blank border. There are tiny pairs of staple holes in the top center blue background area, and several tiny pairs of staple holes and a tiny tear in the bottom border. The poster was lightly partially folded in half an extra time. After a very simple linenbacking, the poster will look fantastic, or of course, it could be displayed as it is.
