What laughing..."; "What a rogue... what a rascal... what a riot...!"; "Based on the Novel by Booth Tarkington") starring Bob Hope (in the title role), Joan Caulfield, Patric Knowles, Marjorie Reynolds, Joseph Schildkraut, Cecil Kellaway, Reginald Owen, Constance Collier, and Hillary Brooke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that it may be hard to believe in today's "anything goes" world, but in 1946, studios had to submit stills to the "Advertising Advisory Council" to get their approval, and this still was stamped "REJECTED", because you could see Joan Caulfield's cleavage (see the image)! It is rare to find these "rejected" stills, especially key book ones, and sometimes, the reason they were rejected is marked on the front with marker, but fortunately, that was not done in this case. Note that this still is a key book still, printed on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still. Condition: very good to fine. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
