An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style C Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

The Better 'ole, the 1926 Charles Reisner silent World War I (WWI) military comedy (based on the 1919 play by Bruce Bairnsfather and Arthur Elliott, which was based on Bairnsfather's comic strip, "Old Bill") starring Syd Chaplin (as Old Bill), Harold Goodwin, Jack Ackroyd, Edgar Kennedy, Charles K. Gerrard and Theo Lorch. Note that Bruce Bairnsfather was an English soldier who rose to prominence during World War I, when he became a cartoonist and had a comic strip concerning a character called Old Bill. Immediately after the war, he wrote a play called "The Better 'Ole" (the title of which came from one of his classic strips, showing two English soldiers arguing over a foxhole, and one saying "If you know of a better 'ole, take it").

Important Added Info: Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: fair. There are areas of paper loss, tears, and stains around the edges as seen in our image. The entire card is quite fragile and it has some scattered stains. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
