An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Slide, Kelly, Slide! the 1927 Edward Sedgwick silent New York Yankees romantic baseball sports melodrama (one of the most popular baseball movies ever made, about a phenomenal New York Yankees rookie baseball pitcher who alienates all the fans with his cocky attitude; he romances the daughter of a veteran catcher on the team; he gets drunk before a major game, and acts disgracefully, causing him to be fired, and causes the batboy who worshiped him to hate him; in the deciding game of the World Series, the Yankees run out of pitchers, and the batboy runs out to find the fired star, and is hit by a truck, and the young star not only pitches the end of the game, but also scores the winning run; the batboy recovers, the young star redeems himself, and is loved by everyone!) starring William Haines (in the title role as Jim Kelly), Sally O'Neil, Harry Carey Sr., Frank Coghlan Jr. (billed as "Junior Coghlan"; as the batboy), Warner Richmond, and Karl Dane. Note that Haines is a "hick" from Pottstown, Iowa, and when he first arrives at the Yankees, he is wearing his Pottstown uniform on the field, and some of the advertising for the movie has him with a Pottstown jersey rather than a New York Yankees jersey. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fair to good. There is a vertical crack running down the center of the slide (it goes between the "R" and "D" of "EDWARD" and through the legs of Haines' image. The crack is almost invisible in person, and otherwise, the slide is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
