eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result #115 MARK OF ZORRO LC '20 Fairbanks Date Sold 1/8/2002Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Mark of Zorro, the 1920 Fred Niblo silent south-of-the-border masked-hero western adventure thriller ("From the 'All Story Weekly' novel 'The Curse of Capistrano' by Johnston McCulley") starring Douglas Fairbanks (in the title role as Zorro), Marguerite De La Motte, Robert McKim, Noah Beery Sr., Charles Hill Mailes, and Claire McDowell. It is interesting to note that this was the very first Zorro movie ever, and that Zorro, created in a pulp story in 1919, was the very first masked superhero ever! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a hand-colored card. In the days of silent film prior to the invention of good quality full-color printing, studios would have lobby cards printed in black and white and then amazingly would hire women to hand-color the cards one at a time (apparently labor was very cheap at the time)! So, each card is colored slightly differently, and the coloring is never a perfect match. Condition: very good to fine. There is a tack hole in the top corners of the image background and a tack hole in the bottom center edge of the image background. There is some surface paper loss in the left of the top and bottom blank borders. Learn More about condition grades
