a lot of 2 news photos of Lois Andrews (measuring 7 1/2" x 10" and 8" x 11"). She was an actress from the 1940s to the 1950s. Some of her movie roles include: Dixie Dugan (in the title role), Rustlers, The Desert Hawk, and Meet Me After the Show. But what Miss Andrews is likely best remembered for is what happened when she was 15 (but very "advanced" for her age physically). Out of the blue, on March 22, 1940, she announced her "engagement" to comedian George Jessel, who was 40 at the time, saying "I love Mr. Jessel very much". When Mr. Jessel was asked for a comment, he said "It depends on her mother and perhaps a little more thought" and he added that reports that they would be married were "premature". Remarkably, Mr. Jessel, who had been married twice before, DID marry young Miss Andrews, and the marriage lasted three years and produced a child. She then married a man two years later, and that marriage was annulled, and then married actor Steve Brodie right after, which resulted in two children and a 4 year marriage. Finally, in 1953, when she was 27, she married for the fourth time, this time to a non-actor, and that marriage stuck, lasting until her death in 1968, when she was just 44. Note that the items in this lot are from the 1940s to the 1950s (the one from when she was 15 is from March 1940 and it has two newspaper clippings glued to the back; the other one is from 1951, when she was 25, and has a date stamp on the back).
Measurements: from 7 1/2" x 10" to 8" x 11"

Condition: good to very good. The news photo with her at 15 has touch up paint above her head and many printer marks around the edges, with paint at the bottom below the bearskin (see our image). The other news photo is in pretty nice condition!
