An Autographed Piece of Paper (measures 4 1/2" x 6") (Learn More) Gene Kelly (born Eugene Curran Kelly) was a famous musical and dance star (but he also appeared in straight dramatic roles) from the 1940s through the 1990s. Together with Fred Astaire, he is one of the two best remembered stars of dancing musicals, and yet he was far from an overnight success. He made his first movie in 1942, "For Me and My Gal", when he was 30 years old, and for most of the 1940s, he did not make many appearances in musicals. Between 1948 and 1951, he appeared in several memorable musicals, but he and his wife, Betsy Blair, were caught up in the blacklisting scandals of the early 1950s, and while he himself was not blacklisted, it did hurt his career. Some of his movies include: Singin' in the Rain, Inherit the Wind, On the Town, An American in Paris, Anchors Aweigh (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and scores of others! AND Cesar Romero was an actor (born in New York City, but both his parents were from Cuba) from the 1930s to the 1990s. Some of his movies include: The Thin Man, The Good Fairy, Tales of Manhattan, Vera Cruz, The Devil Is a Woman, and the role of The Joker in the 1960s "Batman" television series. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Gene Kelly AND Cesar Romero! Many collectors take individual signatures of famous stars and frame them together with an original or repro still of that star in their prime, and it makes for a wonderful display! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the 1970s and 1980s. During that time, he was approached by an elderly man named Sterling H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years (starting in the early 1930s), and who sold the dealer his entire collection. Bond had tracked down many important Hollywood celebrities and obtained autographed items (often personalized to him), and he also had autographs from celebrities who were not in the film business (including famous politicians!). The dealer was so impressed with this collection that rather than sell it item by item, he began collecting autographs himself, sending celebrities items by Registered Mail which they then autographed and returned to him! He also purchased a few autographed items from top autograph dealers of the 1970s and 1980s. Now, decades later, the dealer consigned these autographed items to us, and we have sold many of them in our previous "all signed" auctions, and this set of auctions contains the last of them. All of these autographed items from this consignor were either obtained by long time collector Sterling H. Bond, or were obtained by this memorabilia dealer, and we feel certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
