An Original Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6" x 9"; 8 pages) (Learn More)

S.O.S. Eisberg, the 1933 Arnold Fanck German/U.S. Greenland airplane aviation plane crash disaster adventure thriller (based on the real life story of the Wegener polar expedition of 1929-30, in which most of the people died, and this movie imagines that a female aviator, based on Amelia Earhart, and played by Riefenstahl, flies a plane to try to rescue them and crashes into an iceberg, stranding her along with the members of the expedition, and native Eskimos paddle to them in kayaks and rescue them!) starring Gustav Diessl, Leni Riefenstahl, Sepp Rist, Ernst Udet, Gibson Gowland, and Dr. Max Holsboer. Note that there is both this German language version and also an English language version of this movie that were filmed at the exact same time. The main difference between the two versions is that Tay Garnett directed the English language version, which starred Rod La Rocque, and that Arnold Fanck directed the German language version, which starred Gustav Diessl, but Leni Riefenstahl and most of the other cast members appeared in both versions. Other movies from around this time had both German and English language versions, most notably "The Blue Angel". The rise to power of the Nazi party (and their policies) brought an end to these co-productions. Note that Arnold Fanck was a German director who loved skiing and made many "mountain films" that included skiing sequences.

Important Added Info: Note that this program is from the German language version of this movie (see above for the differences between the English language version and the German language version). Also note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the eight pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are four pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended).

Note that on January 6th of this year we auctioned a mostly single owner collection of 551 German and Austrian programs, that included many rare and wonderful titles, but now we have been consigned (from a new consignor) 128 German and Austrian programs which include some programs that are duplicates of ones we auctioned on January 6th, but which also includes a large number of programs which we have never auctioned before, including many rare and wonderful titles (especially super-rare pre-World War II titles from both countries, and some scarce titles from during World War II and from immediately after)! If you have the slightest interest in these, be sure to look over all of the 128 programs we are currently offering. We promise you won't be disappointed!

Condition: very good.
