R55 Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Passing Parade, the 1955 compilation of three short subjects from the classic "John Nesbitt's Passing Parade" series, which started as a radio show in 1937 and continued to 1951 on the radio, but was also a series of 64 one-reel short subjects at MGM from 1938 to 1949, all of which were produced and narrated by John Nesbitt. In 1955, MGM put three of the earlier ones together and released it as a second bill called simply "Passing Parade" ("Amazing secrets behind the scenes of famous events!"). We don't know if there was only one of these compilations made, or if there were several, because we have only seen a single one-sheet (perhaps this compilation was not successful and it was not repeated). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. In the 1960s, they were shown on television in a re-edited format, and then have again been seen on Turner Classic Movies in their original format. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: fine. The poster was in quite nice condition prior to linenbacking and looks great now!. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
