An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Devil Bat, the 1940 Jean Yarbrough science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy crime mystery horror thriller (based on a story by George Bricker; about a mad scientist who wants revenge on his former employers who he feels cheated him, and he trains his own breed of electrically enlarged bats to hate a specific perfume, and then he gets the female members of his former employers' families to wear it, after which they are brutally killed by the bats) starring Bela Lugosi, Suzanne Kaaren, Dave O'Brien (Dave 'Tex' O'Brien), Guy Usher, Yolande Donlan, and Donald Kerr. Note that "Poverty Row" studio PDC (Producers Distributing Corporation) went bankrupt at the end of the 1930s, and was reorganized as PRC (Producers Releasing Corporation), and this movie was their very first, and it was also their biggest hit! They made a "sequel" in name only called "Devil Bat's Daughter", but it did not match the success of this movie, and in fact, they had few other successes. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: NOTE: Most lobby cards from before 1940 (and some from after that date) did not have individual lobby card numbers like later lobby cards (those printed after the advent of NSS in 1940) did. So we have arbitrarily assigned numbers to unnumbered lobby cards, only when we sell more than one from a set, so that there is a convenient way to tell different scenes apart. (Note that we do not use #1, because this is commonly used to signify the title card). The exception to this is sets of cards that did not have title cards. Condition: good. There was a 3" diagonal tear near the center of the top border and three small tears in the upper left border, and a 1" tear in the right of the top border. Someone put brown paper tape on the back of all three of these. There are two horizontal smudge marks in the upper center of the card, and one extends into the face of the man in the cell. Other than the three pieces of paper tape described above, this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has there been any tape on the front or back of the card.
