An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (LC; measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) Ann Sothern (born Harriette Arlene Lake) was an actress from the 1920s to the 1980s. She had small uncredited showgirl-like parts from 1927 to 1933, and then she started getting much better roles, and she was a leading lady in the 1930s, and stayed a top star through the 1950s. Some of her movies include: A Letter to Three Wives, Footlight Parade, The Best Man, The Whales Of August (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and scores of others, and she is also well remembered from the "Private Secretary" and "The Ann Sothern Show" TV series in the 1950s. She passed away in 2001 at the age of 92. Important Added Info: Note that this jumbo lobby card has a FACSIMILE autograph that is within the printing (the card has NOT been personally autographed). Note that in the 1920s and 1930s, studios made jumbo lobby cards like these (named that because they measure 14" x 17", rather than 11" x 14"). Often, they were made in sets of 8 for specific movies, but they also made ones that were for specific stars, and these are exactly like the 22" x 28" "personality posters", except for the difference in size. Condition: good. There is paper loss in three corners. There is a 1" tear in the right of the bottom border. There is a faint vertical crease down the right 5" of the card, passing through one of Sothern's eyes. There are some tiny tears and some tiny bits of paper loss in the borders.
