An Original 1960s (from the first release of this movie in India) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Indian Movie Poster (measures 30" x 39 3/4" [76 x 101 cm]) (Learn More) Aleksandr Nevskiy (released in English-speaking countries as "Alexander Nevsky"), the classic 1938 Sergei M. Eisenstein Russian biographical historical 13th century medieval knight war action melodrama ("With original musical score by Prokofieff"; Eisenstein staged the battle sequences to match the wonderful Prokofieff music) starring Aleksandra Danilova, Nikolai Cherkasov (in the title role as Aleksandr Nevsky), Nikolai Okhlopkov, Andrei Abrikosov, and Dmitri Orlov. Note that this classic movie was first released in the U.S. in 1939, and then in just a few countries in the 1940s and then to the rest of the world over the 1950s and 1960s. Because virtually none of the posters are dated, it is very difficult to tell what is from the first release, but ANY first release posters for this classic movie are incredibly rare! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 10" tear near the center of the top border, with a 4" tear near the center of the bottom border, extending between the two words of the title. It had some tape stains in the top blank border and some pinholes and tears around the edges. Many years ago, someone mounted it onto a thin linen, with only slight restoration and no excess. The poster was roughly handled and it has creases in the beard of the man and across the chin of the person next to him. If I owned this rare poster, I would have it removed from the old thin linen and properly re-backed, or, of course, one could display it as it is. Learn More about condition grades
