Date Sold 9/15/2016 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 7 Undated (probably 1980s) Re-Release Theatrical Swiss Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 15 3/4" x 20" [40 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Touch of Evil, the classic 1958 Orson Welles Mexico drugs crooked policeman revenge crime film noir thriller ("The story of the strangest vengeance ever planned!"; based on the novel 'Badge of Evil' by Whit Masterson) starring Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Orson Welles, Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Marlene Dietrich ("She felt his touch - once, and never forgot it!"), Zsa Zsa Gabor (Dietrich & Gabor billed as "'With Guest Stars' Marlene Dietrich, Zsa Zsa Gabor"), Joanna Moore, Akim Tamiroff, Valentin de Vargas, and Victor Millan. Note that this movie was re-released in 1998, finally re-edited to satisfy the changes Orson Welles requested in a memo he wrote to the studio right after its first release when he found out the film had been cut. It took 40 years, but Welles' original vision was mostly restored. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that normally, Swiss lobby cards from this time were all on heavy boards with grommets (see below). But in the case of this one set, only five of them are made that way, and the other two are not mounted (but are otherwise very similar). We can't explain why this would be, and this is the first time we have seen this. Note that five of these Swiss lobby cards were created by the distributor by creating a set of identical stiff board printed backings, with a blank space for a still, and then they would attach a number of stills to a number of different boards, thus creating a set of Swiss lobby cards. Note that the board has metal grommets inserted into each corner, to make displaying of this Swiss lobby card far easier. Also note that these Swiss lobby cards (which come from a 1980s "Marlene Dietrich Festival" in Switzerland) measure 15 3/4" x 20" [40 x 51 cm]. Condition: good.
