An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Betsy's Burglar, the 1917 Paul Powell silent romantic crime comedy (about a poor girl who works as a maid in a boardinghouse, and she dreams of being a detective, and a man moves in who tells her that that people across the hall have his stolen family jewels, and he enlists her help in recovering them, which results in her being kidnapped, but everything works out in the end, and the two are married) starring Constance Talmadge (in the title role as Betsy), Kenneth Harlan, Monte Blue, Joseph Singleton, and Josephine Crowell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, or it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, or it had fairly major defects that were not restorated at all. If it was restored, you can see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster has minor smudges and creases throughout, more so around the edges of the poster, and most noticeable down the right side of the poster. there are some tears and small areas of paper loss on the horizontal foldlines (there is no vertical fold). there is considerable paper loss in the blank borders, especially the right border. The poster is well linenbacked but the person who did so pretty much just mounted the poster and only did restoration along the foldlines, but otherwise left the other defects alone. They are not all that noticeable or distracting, but if they bother the new owner of the poster, a talented restorer could touch them up without rebacking the poster.
