An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 12" x 18"; 12 pages) (Learn More)

The Ape, the 1940 William Nigh mad scientist horror thriller ("Suggested by the play by Adam Hull Shirk. Adaption by Curt Siodmak"; although his name this time is spelled "Kurt"; Siodmak must have had a real ape fetish, as he wrote most of the cheesy ape-type movies of the 1940s, including "Bride of the Gorilla", and many other B-horror movie classics!) starring Boris Karloff, Maris Wrixon, Gertrude Hoffman, Henry Hall, Gene O'Donnell, and Ray 'Crash' Corrigan (as the man in the really fake ape suit!). Note that Crash Corrigan made a REALLY wise investment in the 1930s, when he bought a "gorilla suit". In many of the movies in the 1940s where there is a fake gorilla, it is played by Crash Corrigan, no doubt because he could supply the suit!

Condition: good. all pages have light water staining on the half of the page closest to the spine. The staining has discolored each page, but only lightly, and the pages are not at all stuck together; other than the staining, the pressbook is in pretty good condition

This pressbook is in clearly lesser condition. It has significant defects, such as tears, stains, smudges, and small areas of paper loss around the edges. It may have ads cut out, or be very fragile. However, it has never been folded, which is unusual, as almost all larger pressbooks were folded in half so that they could be more easily transported. We have given a good general description of the defects this pressbook has above. Please do not bid on this pressbook unless you can accept the clear defects that it has (if you look at the images we provide and read our description, you should get a good sense of what defects this pressbook has).
