eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3g011 UNKNOWN CAVALIER insert '26 incredible art of cowboy Ken Maynard riding charging Tarzan! Date Sold 5/20/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Unknown Cavalier, the 1926 Albert S. Rogell silent romantic cowboy western ("From the story 'Ride Him Cowboy' by Kenneth Perkins") starring Ken Maynard (in the title role as Tom Drury, "The Unknown Cavalier"), Kathleen Collins, David Torrence, T. Roy Barnes, and Jim Mason. Note that this movie was remade under the title of the source story in 1932 with John Wayne in the lead role! Also note that "Tarzan", Ken Maynard's horse, is not billed in this movie. We don't know if he appeared in it uncredited, but we do know that he had been in several Ken Maynard films prior to this one (he had been bought by Maynard for $50 in 1925, and after he was called "Tarzan" in a movie, Edgar Rice Burroughs threatened to sue Maynard, and they settled when Maynard agreed to have him billed as "Tarzan, The Wonder Horse", and he soon had permanent billing alongside Maynard, and he performed with Maynard for the next 15 years or so!). Also, note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is from a remarkable group of mid-1920s inserts that has just been discovered! There are twelve of them, and we are auctioning them this week in twelve separate auctions, at the start of our listings. While the poster has never been folded, it is 84 years old, so we would not want to attempt to roll it, so it will be sent in a large flat package. This will cost more than our standard size packages, so for this poster, and the other eleven inserts we are auctioning this week, the buyer will need to pay the actual cost of shipping for this poster (and of course, if this poster is purchased with other inserts, they can all be sent together in a single flat package). Condition: very good to fine. The insert was never folded. There is some slight darkening in parts of the blank borders and some faint rippling in a few areas, but otherwise, the poster is in surprisingly nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
