Murder on a Bridle Path, the 1936 William Hamilton & Edward Killy New York Central Park female detective murder mystery crime comedy ("You'll be tickled to death!"; "Because it's just killing!"; "The leading he-he man of the police force and the foremost scream actress of her time.. in a killing drammer"; "The most laughed-about detekatives in a killing... side-splitting drammer") starring James Gleason (as Inspector Oscar Piper), Helen Broderick (as Hildegarde Withers), Louise Latimer, Owen Davis Jr., John Arledge, John Carroll, and Willie Best. Note that this was one of a series of six very popular detective comedies starring a female detective named Hildegarde Withers, who assists a police detective named Oscar Piper. The first movie in the series was "Penguin Pool Murder" in 1932, and Edna May Oliver played her in the first three movies, and then Helen Broderick played her in one, and Zasu Pitts in the final two.
