An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 Fred McLeod Wilcox science fiction (sci-fi) outer space robot monster thriller ("AMAZING!"; "in Cinemascope and Color"; "Based on the story by Irving Block & Allen Adler"; very loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest"; about space men who journey to a distant planet, and they find that all the members of the original expedition have died, except for one man and his daughter, and they have discovered the secrets of a long lost civilization called "The Krell", which dwarfs anything humans have ever discovered, but there is a very dark side to those secrets that is soon revealed) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman (as the cook, who was put in the movie for comic relief), and Robby the Robot (billed as "Introducing Robby the Robot"). Note that after Robby the Robot appeared in this movie, he had another movie role in "The Invisible Boy", and then he appeared in a slightly modified version as the robot in TV's "Lost in Space". On November 21, 2017, the original "Robby the Robot" was auctioned, and it sold for $5.375 million!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thin backing, it can be sent rolled in a tube, but we would recommend shipping it in a flat package so as to be sure not to damage it.

What IS paperbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. It had a slight extra fold next to the vertical foldline and in the right half of the top and bottom folds, with some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the top horizontal foldline, and in the top quarter of the vertical fold, with minor wear on the other foldlines. It had tiny staple holes and pinholes around the edges. It had some faint stains in parts of the blank borders and paper loss in the center of the bottom border, slightly affecting the small writing. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
