An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Gershwin's Girl Crazy, the 1943 Norman Taurog romantic cowboy western musical ("The big musical with Broadway flair and a western air!"; "an entire score by George Gershwin, Nancy Walker, and Frances Rafferty"; "Music by George Gershwin"; "Lyrics by Ira Gershwin"; "Based upon musical play 'Girl Crazy' by Guy Bolton and Jack McGowan") starring Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Nancy Walker (before she gained fame in the "Rhoda" TV series!), Gil Stratton, Robert E. Strickland, 'Rags' Ragland, June Allyson, Guy Kibbee, and Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra. Note that this was an unusual combination of talents with Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, and Tommy Dorsey performing songs by George and Ira Gershwin, but all with a "Western air" (but with the usual "Broadway flair"). The poster was glued to a piece of foam core, and someone removed it by slowly removing most of the foam core from the back, but there is white paper residue over the entire back of the poster. In addition, the poster had many significant defects. It had much staining across the bottom. It had tears and paper loss around the edges, and someone had compounded that problem by putting tape on the back of some of those areas, which bled through to the front. The top 2" was entirely separated at one time and there were tears and separation down the left of the poster with some long tears in the image. The poster has other defect as well, as can be noted in our super-sized image. While this poster has VERY significant defects, it is also true that a talented restorer can surely linenback it, and "rescue" it, but please read our description above and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this poster.
