An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 23" x 33" [58 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Salome, the 1953 William Dieterle historical romantic sword-and-sandal Biblical melodrama ("The supreme screen achievement of our time..."; "Your eyes will see the glory") starring Rita Hayworth (in the title role as Princess Salome), Stewart Granger (as Commander Claudius), Charles Laughton (as King Herod), Judith Anderson (as Queen Herodias), Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Tiberius Caesar), Basil Sydney (as Pontius Pilate), Maurice Schwartz (as Ezra), Arnold Moss, Alan Badel (as John the Baptist), and "a cast of thousands" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Boris Streimann Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and the last time was in 2015 and it sold for $327! Condition: good. The poster was exposed to an oily substance that has stained the back of the vertical foldline at upper center and at center, and the staining slightly bleeds through to the front, however, there are some stains on front of the lower edge of the vertical fold. It has a few tears of varying lengths around the edges (one is slightly larger at lower left) and most of the tears are repaired with tape from the back. Still, the art of the poster is mostly "all there" and after linenbacking with some proper restoration the poster will look great, but please bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
