An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Autographed One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Gunfighter, the classic 1950 Henry King outlaw cowboy western ("His only friends were his guns... His only refuge was in a woman's heart!"; "From a Story by William Bowers and Andre de Toth"; about a champion gunfighter who returns to the town where his wife and son are, in the hopes of reuniting with them and "going straight", but circumstances beyond his control prevent that from happening) starring Gregory Peck (as Jimmy Ringo), Helen Westcott, Millard Mitchell, Jean Parker, Karl Malden, Skip Homeier, Anthony Ross, Verna Felton, Ellen Corby, and Richard Jaeckel. Note that some key book stills for this movie have the title entered as "The Gun Fighter". We don't know if this was an early working title, or if it was just a case of someone making a mistake! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by director Henry King!

This poster comes from a remarkable collection of 81 one-sheets (and one reproduction), which we are currently auctioning in 82 separate auctions. Our consignor was a college professor for a number of years, who was a close friend of Ray Harryhausen, and who became friendly with many Hollywood directors, actors, and crew members. He had a collection of movie posters in the 1970s, and when he would have a chance to meet an actor, director, or crew member, he would find one-sheets in his collection from movies that person had worked on, and he would bring it to their meeting, and ask the person to sign (and on several occasions, he was able to get more than one signature on a single poster), and some of the people who signed wrote an inscription, sometimes personalized to our consignor. He has passed away, and he did not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are 100% certain all the signatures on his 81 one-sheets are authentic, because they were acquired in person by our consignor. This is a rare opportunity to obtain vintage one-sheets with authentic signatures!

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.

Condition: fair to good. The poster has many staple holes around the edges. The top 1" was folded back at one time. There are tiny tears, tiny bits of paper loss, and some stains around the edges, with small paper loss near the center of the top border. There is separation in the right half of the top fold and some tears and other separation on parts of the rest of the folds. Someone put many small clear tape repairs on the back.
