An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More)

The Fire Detective, the 1929 Spencer Gordon Bennet & Thomas Storey silent fireman firefighter rescue adventure serial ("Thrilling and Amazing Adventures"; "Blazing Pathe serial"; "From a story by Frank Leon Smith") starring Gladys McConnell, Hugh Allan, and Leo D. Maloney. We could find no complete plot synopsis of this serial (which had ten two-reel chapters), but we found an incomplete review that said that the hero of the serial was a man whose father made firefighting equipment, and he became a fireman to see how his father's equipment worked, and that the female lead was a newspaper woman also investigating the equipment. Sadly, this is a lost movie, meaning no prints are believed to have survived. According to the Exhibitors Daily Review, The Fire Detective was set to be the first serial with sound sequences (not a talkie, but synchronized sound effects). However, based on reviews of the time, those intended sound effects never happened, so it was a completely silent serial.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1929 movie paper from this serial are incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a one-sheet and a few lobby cards from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: fair. The blank top was trimmed off and there are tears around the edges, with paper loss in the lower right. Certainly, the card can be restored, but bear in mind its defects before bidding.
