(literally translates to "Support Her!"), the 1917 French World War I (WWI) poster (with taglines that translates to "The health inspector will show you the road to health. She is leading a crusade against tuberculosis and infant mortality") created by the Commission for the Prevention of Tuberculosis in France, and featuring Auguste Leroux art of woman holding a naked child who is wearing a French revolutionary Phrygian cap (bonnet rouge). In 1917, in the midst of World War I, an estimated 150,000 French soldiers were discharged because of active tuberculosis infections. Health officials also feared the impending public health disaster of thousands of infected soldiers returning to their homes. The Commission for the Prevention of Tuberculosis in France (Commision Americaine de Preservation Contre la Turberculose en France) was established in 1917 by the Rockefeller Foundation (an American foundation created by the Rockefeller family) in an attempt to curb the spread of tuberculosis throughout France. Artist: Auguste Leroux Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds and tiny staple holes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. At some point after it was backed, it acquired a faint diagonal crease in the bottom right corner, slightly creasing the bottom right corner of the poster (and the excess linen).
