One Way Passage, the classic 1932 Tay Garnett doomed romance sea voyage romantic melodrama ("You'll never forget William Powell and Kay Francis"; "The 'Grand Hotel' of the sea"; "It's perfect!"; about a condemned man being secretly transported on a cruise ship to his execution, and while traveling, he meets and falls in love with a woman who has a terminal illness!) starring William Powell ("The murderer who dared to die!"), Kay Francis ("The doomed woman who dared to love!"), Aline MacMahon, Frank McHugh, and Warren Hymer. Note that this is a really beautiful movie, and if you haven't seen it, you should!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Not only that, but it is the absolute only first release poster we have ever auctioned (and I, and many other people, have been searching for any first release poster from it for decades!). Why are the first release posters so rare? It is almost surely because there was a very quick 1936 re-release, and it seems that all first release posters were used or destroyed at that time (and even 1936 re-release posters are rare). It will likely be many years before we auction another first release poster of any kind from this movie, and of course, this one has wonderful art of Kay Francis and William Powell. Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster was in really excellent condition, with bright colors. Its only defect was a strip of uneven darkening across the lower part of the image (including much of the stars' faces). A really talented restorer expertly evened out the darkening, and this rare and wonderful window card displays wonderfully!
