Smilin' Through, the 1922 Sidney Franklin silent romantic melodrama ("The Crowning Triumph of the world's greatest star."; "A drama of love that is ever young and hearts that will never grow old"; "As sweet as he rose, as tender as the dove is the unsurpassable artistry of Norma Talmadge"; "No more perfect drama has graced the screen", "From out the years an old love reached to deny the love of youth."; "'You love him dear.' 'No - no my heart will not allow it. I am to marry another.' 'I'll wait for you forever.' A shot for love. 'She will never see you again.' A love that even death could not deny."; "From Allen Langdon Martin's famous stage play of the same name" [note that although a man was credited with the screenplay, it was actually written by two women, Jane Cowl & Jane Murfin!]; a pretty wacky story of a man whose fiancee was killed by her insanely jealous ex-boyfriend on their wedding day, and years later, the man is now in charge of his niece, who looks exactly like his fiancee, and she is engaged to marry a man who looks exactly like the man who killed his fiancee, and naturally, he does all he can to break them up!) starring Norma Talmadge (in a dual role), Wyndham Standing, Harrison Ford (not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), Alec B. Francis, and Glenn Hunter. Note that this was apparently an incredibly popular play at the time, because the rights to the movie supposedly sold for $75,000, an astronomical amount in 1922. It seems that the play retained its popularity, because in 1932, the movie was re-made with Norma Shearer, Fredric March, and Leslie Howard in the lead roles, and again in 1941 with Gene Raymond, Jeanette MacDonald, and Brian Aherne!

Important Added Info: Note that this is a special deluxe oversized still that was created when the movie first came out. We have never seen deluxe oversized stills similar to these before! Each still (we are offering two as separate eBay auctions) has a facsimile autograph in the bottom of the still that reads, "Sincerely Norma Talmadge posed in 'Smilin' Through'". Each is printed on a quality paper stock, and "The Ullman Mfg. Co., Art Publishers, N.Y." is printed in the top left corner of each still.
NOTE: In this case, the #1 in the title of the sale is not the number of the still. Because we are selling more than one still from this movie this week as separate eBay sales, we needed to differentiate the different sales, and we did so by marking them "#1, #2, #3, etc..".
