An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, the classic 1972 Stanley Kubrick (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English science fiction (sci-fi) psychodrama ("Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are rape, ultra-violence and Beethoven."; "Being the adventures of a young man... who loved a bit of the old ultra-violence... went to jail, was brainwashed... and came out cured... or was he?"; "Based on the novel by Anthony Burgess"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about the leader of a teenage band of futuristic hooligans that are into "Ultra-Violence" which means they do things like raping women and torturing old drunks, but he is sent to prison and receives a brainwashing treatment that results in an inability to perform violent acts, but at what cost?) starring Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Adrienne Corri, Miriam Karlin, Warren Clarke, James Marcus (Clarke and Marcus play the droogs, Dim and Georgie), and David Prowse NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Philip Castle Important Added Info: Note that this movie was originally released in the United States with an "X" rating. It was soon re-released with an "R" rating, and the posters with the "X" rating have always been more difficult to find than those with an "R" rating! Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not restored at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had many minor border defects, and many scuffs, smudges, and creases throughout the poster (but fortunately, not many in the central image area). The person who restored the poster chose to paint over the entire white background area, which means that it all looks very neat and even, but, of course, it also means that a major portion of the poster has paint on it. It is important to know, however, that the paint is on the solid white areas, and there are only tiny amounts of paint on any of the image or on any of the writing. Please do not bid on this rare poster unless you can accept the restoration described above (which is truly not very noticeable; you really realize it when you "feel" the poster with your hand, and barely at all when you look at it).
