An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The False Faces, the 1919 Irvin V. Willat silent World War I (WWI) crime melodrama (from the novel by Louis Joseph Vance; the second ever screen adaptation featuring this character!) starring Henry B. Walthall (as "The Lone Wolf"), Mary Anderson, Lon Chaney Sr. (as the villain!), Milton Ross, Thornton Edwards, and William Bowman. Note that The Lone Wolf was a character in a series of eight novels that author Louis Joseph Vance wrote starting in 1914, and the first movie starring the character was in 1917, with Bert Lytell in the lead role. There were three movies after that with three different actors in the lead role. Then Lytell returned to the character, and there were many movies in a short period, and then Lytell starred in some sound movies as the character. In the 1940s, Warren William starred in a series of Lone Wolf movies, and then the character was played by Gerald Mohr. There were a few single entries mixed in where other actors played the lead role. In all, there were 24 Lone Wolf movies! The character was a master thief turned detective, and there were several other characters who were very similar, but few had the enduring popularity of The Lone Wolf! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the earliest days of lobby cards (mostly between 1915 and 1919), lobby sets were usually NINE cards. There were eight scene cards, and an additional "title card", that was REALLY a title card, because it normally just had text on it with the title of the movie and the credits, but no image. Some time at the end of the 1910s, studios realized they could print lobby cards on two half-sheet-sized sheets and then trim them into eight lobby cards, which saved a lot of money, and at that time they eliminated the title card and changed one of the scene cards into a modern day title card (with both image and credits), and the eight card lobby card has remained the standard to the present day. The title card offered here is one of those mid 1910s true title cards! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There is surface paper loss in the upper left corner that affects the border lines. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
