An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Oregon Trail, the 1923 Edward Laemmle winning-of-the-West silent cowboy western serial ("Universal Chapter Play") starring Art Acord, Louise Lorraine, Duke R. Lee, Jim Corey, and Burton Law. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that director Edward Laemmle has been largely forgotten by film history, but he has a VERY interesting biography! He is the nephew of Carl Laemmle, who persuaded him to leave his electrical engineering career in 1915 and join him at his recently opened Universal Studios. He started as an assistant director, mainly under John Ford. In 1917, he went to New Guinea to produce a movie about the natives there, and was shipwrecked, and spent two years among the Kia Kia cannibals! This adventure was re-created in the movie "Shipwrecked Among Cannibals", which became the first million dollar movie for Universal Studios. Edward Laemmle went on to direct roughly 50 movies, and had many famous assistants, including William Wyler! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jack Savage Important Added Info: Note that at least two title cards were made for this serial, but neither has a chapter title on it. Usually, there is a title card for each chapter, and one for the entire serial, but that was not done in this case. One of the two title cards we have seen has an image of unbilled Louise Lorraine, and the other shows Art Acord confronting a big man! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. There are some smudges, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss in the borders. There is a 1" tear near the middle of the left border. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
