An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More)

The Lights of New York, the 1922 Charles Brabin silent New York City romantic love triangle/adoption melodrama ("A Drama of Life in a Big City"; based on a story by the director, Charles Brabin; the movie has two separate stories; one is about a boy adopted by a Lower East Side pawnbroker, and he gets in trouble, but he has a dream that foretells a bad end for him, and that causes him to straighten out; the other story concerns a Wall Street financier who loses his fiancee to another man; years later, he is sadly walking the streets, and a group of men invite him to join them, and he discovers that the man giving the party is the son of his former fiancee, and her husband has passed away, and he is reunited with his lost love; the movie seems to be an early "Naked City" type movie, with tales of New York City life, and perhaps it was intended to be the first of several similar movies) starring Clarence Nordstrom, Margaret Seddon, Frank Currier, Florence Short, and Marc McDermott. Note that the IMDb lists this movie as being called "The Lights of New York", although the poster we are selling clearly lists it as "Lights of New York", so we don't know what to make of that! Most importantly, note that this movie is not the famous movie of the same name that was made in 1928 by Warner Bros.! That movie was the first full talking movie, but it has no relation whatsoever to this movie, not even the source novel.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that normally, when we sell silent era half-sheets, we send them flat between boards, because the paper they were printed on is quite fragile, and can't be rolled in a tube. However, this poster has aged so remarkably well that it is still "rollable", and we will send it rolled in a tube! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most half-sheet posters were folded once horizontally and once vertically right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most half-sheets, especially from before 1970!

Condition: very good to fine. There are a couple of small tears and smudges in the borders, but otherwise, the poster has survived in remarkable condition!
