eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4a487 AMERICAN VENUS pressbook '26 images of impossible-to-find Louise Brooks posters! Date Sold 1/10/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 3/4" x 17" [27 x 43 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) The American Venus, the 1926 Frank Tuttle silent Atlantic City New Jersey romantic Miss America beauty pageant comedy ("See Fay Lanphier [Miss America] and 20 beautiful girls in a fast-moving-peppy story-") starring Esther Ralston, Ford Sterling, Lawrence Gray, Fay Lanphier (billed as "Miss America [Fay Lanphier] winner of the Atlantic City Beauty Contest"), Louise Brooks, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Note that this movie is set at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it was made just three years after the pageant began, and the just-crowned Miss America was one of the actresses in the movie! The movie is probably best remembered for the appearance of cult actress Louise Brooks in an early minor role. She was not billed on the posters, but her image DOES appear full-length on the three-sheet! Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist (only two trailers exist). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: fair, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. However, the pages are incredibly fragile and they have completely separated across the middle of all pages, and there are chips and tiny tears around the edges of all pages. There is small paper loss across the middle of the poster page, which affects the images of both one-sheets. Obviously, one would much prefer to find a much better example of this pressbook, but that would be very difficult to do, because we have never before auctioned any example of this pressbook, cut or uncut.
