An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Three Jumps Ahead, the 1923 John Ford (billed as "Jack Ford") silent cowboy western ("A tale of the Western Plains where the best man wins") starring Tom Mix Tony (billed as "Assisted by the Master Horse Tony"), Alma Bennett, Edward Peil Sr., Joseph W. Girard, and Virginia True Boardman. Note that this was the second film ever for Tony, Tom Mix's incredible horse. He had been introduced the year before in "Just Tony", and this was his second film, where he was billed as "The Master Horse Tony". In his next movie, "Stepping Fast", he would be billed as "Tony the Wonder Horse", and he received major billing on most of Tom Mix's films (and was a significant part of Mix's success, since he could do tricks that no other horse could do!). Also note that this is an early movie directed and written by John Ford, but sadly, the film is believed to be lost.

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1923 movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only auctioned two scene lobby cards and a glass slide from this movie until we received this title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

What IS gelbacking? Learn More

Condition: very good. The card had darkened, typical of many William Fox lobby cards of this period. It had a few pinholes and scuffs around the edges, with a few creases and tiny tears. Overall, the card was in very good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the card displays really well!
