An Original Vintage Folded Local Theater Movie Poster (measures 28" x 36 1/4") (Learn More)

The Butter and Egg Man, the 1928 Richard Wallace silent New York City stage acting theater romantic comedy ("From play by George S. Kaufman" [sic]; "A new Comedy by George S. Kaufman"; about a hotel clerk from Ohio who buys the rights to a play from a shady New York producer; the producer thought it was the worst play ever and couldn't possibly succeed, but the young man gets a beautiful actress to star in it, and against all odds it becomes a giant hit, and the young man sells it back to the producer, and goes back to Ohio with his leading lady, who is now his wife) starring Jack Mulhall, Greta Nissen, Sam Hardy, William Demarest, and Gertrude Astor. Note that there are great parallels between this story and "The Producers"! We wonder if Mel Brooks was inspired to write that based on having seen a version of this play or movie.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a special poster printed by a local company (similar to those from Leader Press and other regional companies). Also note that this special poster has been trimmed and it now measures 28" x 36 1/4". Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. It is clear the top of the poster has been trimmed, but I have no idea how much, or what was there (it was likely a 6" area that contained a blank rectangle where a theater could put play dates in it). There is a large snipe glued to the bottom of the poster. Oddly, they did not glue it to the very bottom of the poster, but rather glued it approximately 6" up from the bottom, covering the credit that reads "WITH GREGORY KELLY"!
