An Original Vintage Theatrical English Promotional Movie Brochure (measures 7 1/2" x 10" [19 x 25 cm]; 9 pages) (Learn More) Social Ambition, the 1918 Wallace Worsley silent New York/Alaska romantic love triangle melodrama ("A Story of a Man's Love and a Woman's Ingratitude"; a great story of a man with a wife with expensive habits, and she convinces him to put all his money into the stock market, but he goes broke, and his wife leaves him; he goes to Alaska and goes on a drinking binge, and he mistakes a bar owner's daughter for a dance hall girl, which gets him beaten senseless, and the girl nurses him back to health, and they fall in love and get married; he strikes gold and is rich, and he goes back to New York for a visit, and who does he meet but his former wife, who tries to win him back, but he realizes she is just a gold digger, and he returns to his Alaskan wife, who shows him their baby son who was born while he was gone) starring Rhea Mitchell, Howard C. Hickman (billed as "Howard Hickman"), Kathleen Kirkham, Noah Beery Sr., and Joseph J. Dowling. Note that Rhea Mitchell started in movies in 1909 at the age of 19, and she was a fairly big star through the mid 1910s. But as she got older, her parts started drying up, and she had fewer and fewer roles in the 1920s, and mostly uncredited roles in the 1930s. She managed an apartment building in Los Angeles, and she made her last movie appearance in 1952, and in 1957, at the age of 66, she was strangled by a "disgruntled houseboy"!
