An Original Vintage 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" [9 x 13 cm] Photo (Learn More) The Ramparts We Watch, the 1940 Louis De Rochemont patriotic 'March of Time' documentary ("SEE YOURSELF in this story of your nation's destiny"; "Sub Sinks Lusitania"; "A Saga of Modern America"; "Life, Time and The March of Time presents The Ramparts We Watch"; "A new kind of full length feature picture"; "We hope that from The Ramparts We Watch the American people may gather something - perhaps much - that shall strengthen and sustain their convictions, their faith, and their hopes during the perilous and trying days ahead.") starring John Adair, John Summers, Andrea King, Julia Kent, and Ellen Prescott. Note that The March of Time people claim that this documentary contained footage that was seized from a Nazi ship en route to South America, and that it had been shown to "Norway, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium to scare them into making way for his Blitzkrieg". They promoted it by saying "Can Hitler cast his shadow over our liberty", adding "he thinks he can... see his own film". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in October of 2017, we auctioned a wonderful collection of 27 photos (most measured 3.5x5.25, but some measured slightly smaller) that were taken by a man who worked at a large movie theater in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He created wonderful theater fronts and homemade posters (some that were displayed outside the theater and some inside the theater), and after he finished making his displays, he would take a picture of each and then he put them in a scrapbook. Collectors rightfully bid aggressively on these photos, and all but 4 auctioned for more than $20 each, and 7 sold for $100 or more, with two selling for over $300 each! Now we are offering another 27 photos from this amazing scrapbook! We auctioned many of the best titles in the first group, but there are a number of equally interesting titles in this group. After this, there will be just a few more theater front photos left to auction from the scrapbook, so for the most part, this is the last chance to acquire these very rare to find photos of original theater fronts and local theater displays from this time period. Each of the 27 photos is in a separate auction with this paragraph on them. Condition: very good. The photo was stapled to an album page, and there are staple holes in the corners (see our images).
