Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Boston Blackie, the 1923 Scott R. Dunlap Massachusetts silent detective crime mystery thriller ("Adapted from the story 'The Water Cross' by Jack Boyle") starring William Russell (in the title role as Boston Blackie), Eva Novak, Frank Brownlee, Otto Matieson, W.C. Robinson, and Fred Esmelton. Note that this is one of ten silent movies made in the 1920s starring the fictional character "Boston Blackie", a reformed crook turned detective, which were based on short stories by Jack Boyle. The character was revived in 1941 with Chester Morris playing Boston Blackie, and there were 14 movies in the 1940s. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: good to very good. The poster had two large semi-circular pieces out at the right edge of the top and bottom crossfolds. The one at the top also had paper loss extending into the feet of the man in the image at top right. There was a semi-circular tear. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
