Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Charles Boyer was a French actor from the 1920s to the 1990s. He was a college graduate with a philosophy degree, and he appeared in a few movies in his early 20s. He had greater success in talking movies, thanks to his distinctive French accent (which Chuck Jones "borrowed" for his character Pepe Le Pew), but he had his greatest success in Hollywood in the early 1940s, when many of the top U.S. stars were away in World War II. Some of his movies include: Gaslight (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Algiers (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), All This and Heaven Too, Conquest (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Fanny (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Love Affair. He was married to actress Pat Paterson for 44 years! Boyer passed away in 1978 at the age of 78.
