An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 11 1/2" x 14 1/2" [29 x 37 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) United Artists 1940, the 1940 campaign book. The campaign book consists of a folder that has "Spring is here" printed on the outside and has sixteen loose 11 1/2" x 14 1/2" pages inside the folder, each of which is a single color on a different colored paper, each advertising a different movie. Together with those sixteen loose pages is a 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" cover sheet that tells about all sixteen movies. The movies advertised include Rebecca (Alfred Hitchcock) and One Million B.C. Also included are movies in prepartion that were as of yet not finalized, including "An Ernst Lubitsch Production", "The Life of Rudolph Valentino", and more. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this unusual partial year campaign book before. Not only that, we have never auctioned any United Artists campaign book from after 1938/39, up until the 1950s, so all United Artists campaign books from the 1940s are unbelievably rare! Condition: good. As noted above, the loose sheets in the folder are printed on different colored papers, and at some point, the left edge of them came into contact with moisture, and there is now discoloration down the left edge of several of the pages. It does not affect them otherwise, and it is solely in the left blank border, but it is quite noticeable. The smaller cover sheet has staining in the top left that is mostly in the black background but affects the tagline in that area. The inside of the folder has a flap that had an image of Charlie Chaplin that had "CHAPLIN IS COMING SOON!" printed under it, and someone put many small pieces of tape over that area, which may have been done because they weren't sure about Chaplin's next movie, or it may be just something someone did for another reason. Please look at our images and bear in mind the above unusual defects before bidding on this very rare campaign book. Learn More about condition grades
