Date Sold 6/12/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Unknown Blonde (also released as "Broken Lives"), the 1934 Hobart Henley romantic divorce melodrama ("From the daring novel 'Collusion' by Theo. D. Irwin"; "'28 Divorces' Sensational life story of professional divorce correspondent"; "True confessions"; "Romantic confessions"; "The sensational professional divorce correspondent"; about a man who makes his living finding or inventing dirt on wives so that their husbands can divorce them, and then he finds out that his latest client is the husband of his daughter) starring Edward Arnold, Barbara Barondess, Barry Norton, John Miljan, and Dorothy Revier NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an incredibly puzzling poster! The bottom two-thirds of the poster is from the style B one-sheet of "Unknown Blonde", but the top one-third is a separately printed piece of a poster that solely has the title "Broken Lives"! Normally, we might think that someone simply joined together two unrelated posters, but there appears to be NO movie called Broken Lives, and it definitely is a professionally printed part of a poster that is on regular poster paper, so we think it is likely that someone decided to re-title this movie "Broken Lives", and that they had existing one-sheets with the original title, so, to save money, they printed up new top portions with the new title and merged them together. This sounds bizarre, but we can't think of any alternate explanation. If anyone knows more about this movie or this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. In any event, please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully, and are accepting of the special circumstances about this poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was created from two different pieces . Otherwise, the poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and pretty minor wear on the foldlines and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well (but be sure to read what we wrote above before bidding on this poster)! Learn More about condition grades
