w074 TARZAN & THE MERMAIDS half-sheet movie poster '48 Johnny Weissmuller

An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 27") (Learn More)

Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Mermaids, the 1948 Robert Florey Africa jungle action adventure fantasy thriller ("Barbaric rituals!... Savage thrills! Pagan splendors!..."; "Love-Sacrifice to a Heathen Man-God!"; "Scores of gorgeous aqua-cuties... slaves to a villainous idol's will!"; "Original story and screen play by Carroll Young"; "Based upon the characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs") starring Johnny Weissmuller (in the title role as Tarzan), Brenda Joyce (as Jane), Linda Christian (billed as "introducing Linda Christian"), George Zucco, and Andrea Palma. Note that Maureen O'Sullivan tired of playing Jane in the Tarzan movies, and in 1943, two Tarzan movies were made with no Jane at all, and in 1945, she was replaced by Brenda Joyce, who played the role in five movies.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was machine folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. Someone trimmed off almost all of the left blank border, and the poster now measures 22" x 27". After it was trimmed, they attached an unusual tape around all four borders (no doubt the tape served as a "frame"). There is a censor stamp in the top right corner and pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster. There are extra creases in the center of the poster, in and surrounding Weissmuller's face. There is a scuff mark under the hand of the idol at top left and a stain above the "M" of "MAN" in the tagline at top right. There are rough creases along both foldlines.

IN THIS SPECIAL HALLOWEEN AUCTION, we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like separation on folds, tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Therefore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
