Note that Chaplin was so incredibly popular in 1918, that First National had to pay him a million dollars per movie to lure him away from his previous studio (which was a staggering amount of money in 1918)! Naturally, they wanted to get some advertising value out of their massive expenditure, so they advertised the "A Dog's Life" (his first movie for First National) as "His First Million Dollar Comedy", and they advertised this movie as "His Second Million Dollar Picture" AND The Nickel-Hopper, the 1926 F. Richard Jones & Hal Yates silent romantic comedy short starring Mabel Normand, Michael Visaroff, Theodore von Eltz, Jimmy Anderson, and Margaret Seddon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
