eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5c158 FLIGHT TO MARS 3sh 1951 most fantastic expedition ever conceived by man in the future, rare! Date Sold 4/4/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Flight to Mars, the 1951 Lesley Selander science fiction (sci-fi) outer space thriller ("The Most Fantastic Expedition Ever Conceived by Man!"; "Fifty years into the future!"; "What will they find?"; "Has science solved the mightiest mystery of the universe?"; "You'll want to turn back.... but you can't!") starring Marguerite Chapman, Cameron Mitchell, Arthur Franz, John Litel, and Morris Ankrum. Note that the producers of the movie guessed that a real life flight to Mars would take place in 2001. Of course, this never happened, but now, thanks to Elon Musk, it may happen just a couple of decades past that date! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We have never auctioned a complete one (only a single incomplete) in all our years of auctioning. Also, note that someone had this three-sheet framed, and the framer glued the entire poster to a piece of very large foamcore. That worked well in keeping the poster flat within the frame, but of course, it creates a real problem for shipping the poster, because it will need to be sent in an EXTREMELY large flat package. While we can make such a package, it will require that we pack this poster between four super heavy 43" x 83" boards that we have purchased for $10 each, meaning that the cost of packaging this poster alone is $40 (because of the expense of the large cardboard). VERY IMPORTANT! This poster will likely cost around $200 total to send within the U.S. via ground UPS (but of course, we will only charge the actual cost of shipping) plus the above stated $40 for the packaging materials (we are also auctioning similar size posters that could be packed together with this one, and if so, the shipping per poster will come down drastically). Please bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster (and it would surely cost many hundreds of dollars to send it out of the United States, so we ask that no one bid on this poster unless they can accept delivery of it within the U.S.).
UPDATED 03/31/2019: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: good to very good. The poster had some fold and border wear prior to being glued to the foamcore. Learn More about condition grades
