An Original Vintage Folded World War I Poster (measures 14 1/2" x 22" [37 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

The U.S. Employment Service, the 1910s U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front poster ("The U.S. Employment Service with the cooperation of the Council of National Defense and many other organizations, is opening a Bureau for Returning Soldiers and Sailors in every community throughout the country. This is for your use without charge. Ask for the address at the local Post-office."; "U.S. Employment Service and Cooperating Agencies"; "Bureau for Returning Soldiers and Sailors - Walk in"; "U.S. Department of Labor - U.S. Employment Service"; "Honorable discharge") encouraging soldiers and sailors to use the new employment agency for those returning from the war, and featuring Gordon Grant art of a soldier stepping into an employment office. Note that a major issue for discharged members of the military was finding (or returning to) a civilian job once the war was over.
Artist: Gordon Grant
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster has some minor fold and border wear and small separation at the top and bottom of the vertical fold, and those areas are backed by conservation tape. It has tiny blank border loss at let and a few light creases. The rare World War I poster is otherwise in nice condition and it displays well!
