An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

Lifeboat, the classic 1943 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) World War II (WWII) shipwreck survivor suspense melodrama ("Out of man's rawest emotions - comes the most amazing drama life ever staged!"; based on the story by John Steinbeck; set entirely on a lifeboat adrift on the Atlantic ocean, which has eight survivors from a ship torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat, and it also has a German sailor from the U-boat, but the other eight survivors don't know that!) starring Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, Walter Slezak, Mary Anderson, John Hodiak, Henry Hull, Heather Angel, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. Note that Alfred Hitchcock was famous for having cameo roles in his movies, but because this movie had no other characters other than the lifeboat survivors, he could not appear in the usual way (but he included a scene where a floating newspaper is shown that has his picture on it)!

Important Added Info: Note that the card has had the corner pieces glued on to the back of the card as described below. There are two different stamps on the back from two different collectors who once owned the card, but otherwise, the back of the card is mostly blank, with the one tape repair on the back described below.

Condition: very good. There was a tiny tear near the middle of the top blank border that was repaired with white paper tape from the front and back (it really blends in from the front and is barely noticeable at all!). There was a 1/4" tear in the lower right border that was repaired with a tiny piece of clear tape from the back. There is a diagonal crease in the top right corner of the card extending into the end of Steinbeck's credit. There were creases and smudges around the edges of the card. There were two very light vertical creases 1/3 of the way from the left and right of the card, but they are truly almost invisible from the front of the card. There was paper tape on the back of the left of the card approximately 1 1/2" from the left edge. This paper tape does not appear to have been put there for any restoration purpose, and someone carefully removed most of it. Someone put 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" diagonal pieces in each corner of the card, and it appears they were put there for reinforcement purposes only. There is a tiny piece of tape in the upper left border that was put there to mend a tiny tear. The card is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are truly minor, and not very noticeable or distracting at all!

IN THIS SPECIAL ALFRED HITCHCOCK LOBBY CARD AUCTION, we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Therefore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe. We have also noted what, if anything, is on the back the lobby card, and whether it has ANY restoration of any kind, including amateur tape restoration.
