An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, the classic 1962 John Ford romantic love triangle taming-of-the-West cowboy western ("Together for the First Time"; "Four-time Academy Award winner John Ford brings the American frontier to heroic life again!"; "Screenplay by James Warner Bellah and Willis Goldbeck"; "James Stewart John Wayne in the masterpiece of four-time Academy Award winner John Ford"; about an eastern lawyer who goes out west and finds it completely lawless, and the town is terrorized by a remarkably bad man, but the lawyer, aided by a local man, succeeds in bringing law to the town) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; as Ransom Stoddard), John Wayne (as Tom Doniphon), Vera Miles (as Hallie Stoddard), Lee Marvin (in the title role as Liberty Valance), Edmond O'Brien (as Dutton Peabody), Andy Devine (as Marshall Link Appleyard), Ken Murray (as Doc Willoughby), Strother Martin, Lee Van Cleef, Woody Strode (as Pompey), Anna Lee, and John Qualen NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this half-sheet (and the very similar six-sheet) has far and away the best image from this classic western, much superior to that of the one-sheet or insert! Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster was glued to a display at one time and there are remnants of white paper throughout the back, but they do not appear to have any effect on the front. There is a horizontal scratch at lower right extending into Miles' arm and there are a few scuff marks scattered throughout the poster, including one at center in Wayne's shirt. There are a few light stains around the edges of the poster and in the yellow border at lower right. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and I imagine most collectors could proudly display this poster as it is, but if one chose to have it restored it would look wonderful!
