An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Shopworn Angel, the 1928 Richard Wallace World War I (WWI) New York City romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the story by Dana Burnet"; based on the play "Private Pettigrew's Girl"; about a lonely World War I soldier on leave in New York City and a beautiful showgirl agrees to pretend to be his date to impress his friends, but then a real romance begins) starring Nancy Carroll, Gary Cooper (in an important early role!), Paul Lukas, Roscoe Karns, Memmett King, and Mildred Washington. Even though Gary Cooper was clearly a star at this time, he was still billed after Nancy Carroll, because he was not yet a superstar, and she was! Note that this play was first made into a movie in 1919 almost under its original title, as "Pettigrew's Girl". It was remade in 1938 with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in "Shopworn Angel".
