Date Sold 1/7/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Golden Gallows, the 1922 Paul Scardon silent romantic inheritance melodrama (an unusual story of a chorus girl who becomes a giant star after the leading lady becomes ill, and she has even more good fortune when a wealthy old suitor she rejected leaves his fortune to her after he passes on; but the dead man's lawyer can't believe that there wasn't an inappropriate relationship between them, so he smears the young lady, which causes her fiance to reject her, and she has to prove that there was nothing going on between her and the old man!) starring Miss du Pont (she was born Patricia Hanson, but after she made a few movies, she was "discovered" by Erich Von Stroheim and cast in his "Foolish Wives", and she was then always billed solely as "Miss DuPont"), Edwin Stevens, Eve Southern, Jack Mower, George B. Williams, and Douglas Gerrard. Note that this movie includes the cliched plot development where a chorus girl becomes a star. We wonder if this was the first movie to use this plot device, or if it was old even in 1922! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster has very light water staining on the back of the bottom crossfold, but it is almost unnoticeable from the front. It also has enlarged pinholes around the edges, with separation at each crossfold and light water stains at the extreme left of the top and bottom horizontal folds. After a simple linenbacking, the poster will look fantastic, and it will surely require very little paint restoration. Learn More about condition grades
