Date Sold 8/2/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Romeo and Juliet, the 1916 J. Gordon Edwards silent romantic tragedy melodrama ("A magnificent picturization of the world's most famous classic"; "William Shakespeare's Masterpiece"; based on the famous play by William Shakespeare) starring Theda Bara (as Juliet), Harry Hilliard (as Romeo), Glen White (as Mercutio), Walter Law (as the friar), John Webb Dillon (as Tybalt), Einar Linden (as Paris), Elwin Eaton (as Montague), Alice Gale (as the nurse), Helen Tracy (as Lady Capulet), Victory Bateman (as Lady Montague), and Edward Holt (as Capulet). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist, and we have never seen any first release movie memorabilia from this movie, except for a single glass slide. Also note that there was a competing version of this movie, with the same name, that was also released in 1916, by Metro. That movie starred Francis X. Bushman and Beverly Bayne, and material from that movie is also incredibly rare! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: good to very good. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the play dates section at the bottom of the glass. Half of the black tape is missing from the edges. The image area is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
